I stop here almost every single time I am in the area. It is a MUST on my list (and it should be for you too). This new location is great, even more inviting than the last spot was! I have not met a baked good here that I didn't like, but some of my top favorites include: carrot cake, lemon cake, chocolate blackout cake (are you seeing a trend yet?), macaroons, lemon bars, zebra brownies, cinnamon rolls and any of the seasonal roll flavors, and snickerdoodle cookies!! I like that they use simple, fresh ingredients, and that everything is made from scratch. No mixes here! The cakes are the most delicious I have ever shoved in my face. Most of the time, I don't even bother with the individual slices, I just buy one of the small cakes from the case. If you are going to a small dinner party, they are the perfect size to share (or, if you had a rough day, just tear straight into that sucker with a fork, don't feel bad about it). One time for my birthday I got some sort of a chocolate cake with salted caramel cream cheese frosting and salted caramel drizzled on top and in between the layers. I'm not going to lie, I have had dreams about that cake ever since. The cinnamon rolls and orange rolls are perfect every single time. Never dried out or crusty like a lot of places. They also always have some type of a seasonal offering for the rolls as well, lemon blueberry is my fave in the summer. The bars, brownies and cookies are always awesome, my husband can't get enough of the snickerdoodles. And the macaroons...don't even get me started. Long story short, if there are multiple things that look good to you when you are there, just get it all, because something might only be seasonal, or there for a limited time. If you think you will get it next time, you will be hella disappointed when you come in and they don't have it. Just save yourself that disappointment, trust me. Oh, one last thing I almost forgot, they make croissants on the weekend. They have some with ham and cheese in them. If you are there and they have some, GET THEM! Because they run out of them pretty quick. I've met the owner, Erin, a few times before and she is super nice and great to work with if you need a special order. You can tell that she puts a lot of heart into every single item that is in that case. If you have something special in mind that you need, just ask, they have been very accommodating for me whenever I needed something special for an event. Don't pass up an opportunity to come here if you are in the area!!! You won't leave hungry, I guarantee you.

Bought a Flourless chocolate espresso torte, not very impress with it. I like chocolate that melts in your mouth and this one didn't. It's disappointing.

Dolce Bakery is in their new location and what a great move. They have to die for cinnamon rolls and I am a super fan of their chocolate macaroons!! It is worth the drive even if you are not close - Best Bakery in town.

Since our daughter's fiancé (now husband) is a chef, the wedding cake and cupcakes we planned to serve at our wedding were very important and had to be of the very best quality and taste! He knew that Dolce Bakery was a fantastic bakery, so we were thrilled when we contacted them that they were available for their wedding date and agreed to make their wedding cake and cupcakes! They did not plan to have a traditional wedding cake - instead, they wanted a domed two-layer cake covered with buttercream frosting and topped with strawberries. When our daughter showed them a photo of what they were thinking, they were enthusiastic and immediately started explaining how they could create what the two of them had in mind. They also were able to provide the four types of cupcakes in various flavors that they wanted as well. they both knew from the time they had our tasting that we had engaged a bakery that not only understood our wishes completely but also made the best tasting cake, cupcakes, and frosting anywhere in the Kansas City area! It was a true pleasure to enjoy eating the wonderful cake and cupcakes Dolce made for the wedding. Everything they made was absolutely delicious and best of all, fit within our budget. We will be recommending Dolce Bakery to our friends and family, and plan on stopping by to indulge in a few of their many delicious baked goods for many years to come!

Dolce was at the top of my list, after a Saturday morning visit i will not return. The location seems great, in a trendy off the beaten path area (not much diversity in the scheme of things yet still a tourism attraction). Clean and basic set up inside; however, the staff was cold and unfriendly, appearing to be teens caught up in conversation...no greeting or warm engagement as i selected my options the worst of which was a young ponytailed brunnette very rude and dismissive as she checked me out. Decided on raspberry cake slice, orange cinnamon rolls and variety of cookies. Above average rolls particularly good cookies but the butter cream icing on the cake needs improving, i could literally taste each ingredient. For locals this will be great for visitors this is a waste of time.

This is not a chain, it's a one-store gem. The chocolate-cranberry-oatmeal cookies are positively divine. Lemon cake with lemon curd is delicious, but maybe has too much frosting. Cupcakes very good. Cinnamon rolls a piece of heaven. Not found of the generic-looking black and white photos or the rolling pin decor, but other than that it's a great place. Not a cozy feel to the spot, but that's okay.

Sunday is not their best day. Many mornings most things (croissants, scones) sold and only bakery goods are left. Many times someone will come in and buy big quantities. Almost wonder if the should bother with early morning treats. Now with Einstein Bros and an expanded Starbucks very close, time my not work in their favor. Baked goods, made to order are still their sweet spot, no complaint there. Just don't expect consistent goods on weekends.

My wife loves cupcakes and her birthday was fast approaching so I hopped on Yelp to hopefully find some scrumptious treats. Dolce had only a few reviews but seemed legit so I phoned in an order for half dozen peanut butter chocolate cupcakes to be pick-up in a few days for her birthday. The day arrived and I picked up the cupcakes without a problem and the shop was very clean, modern and nice. Where I was slightly disappointed was in the cupcake themselves. The cake didn't even reach the top of the paper wrapper. The peanut butter cream on top looked nice and tasted good but was nothing spectacular. The chocolate cake seemed like standard Betty Cocker straight from the box. My wife liked them but only because I gave them to her for her birthday and she wouldn't tell me otherwise. I was hoping for more of a "shock and awe" but I could have received the same reaction by making these myself and would have saved about $10.

Will keep this one short. The coffee was better than Starbucks and so were the pastries (I had the orange/chocolate scone) which was to die for. I almost had a 2nd one...I liked the ambiance in there as well during the week - very quiet and peaceful. Sat and leafed through a magazine. I hear it's quite a different scene on the weekends!

5 stars x 10!!! I LOVE DOLCE BAKERY! (No, they didn't pay me to declare my love.. lol) Here is why you need to lace up your sneakers and RUN to Dolce.... Their baked goods, obviously! You can taste the love and fine ingredients in everything that's in the sparkling clean, chilled display case. Chilled case, you ask? Yup! You know when you buy a pastry out of a room temperature case and it's half melted from your body heat before you can take your second bite? It doesn't happen with Dolce's slices of heaven. They are chilled just enough to let you savor each bit slowly and the last bite is just as delectable as the first. But... they don't chill a few items such as the mouth watering cinnamon rolls. Just writing this review is making me want to hop in the car and go get one! They create the obvious standard cinnamon roll that is yeasty, soft, gooey, glazed and cooked to perfection. I hate when a roll is cooked too long and gets crusty. These are always just a slight tan and melt in your mouth upon the first bite. But wait.. there is even a greater level of enjoyment in the orange cinnamon roll. Pure heaven for me. I can't resist buying one when they are still in stock. (slipping on shoe number one.. I just have to go get one) And if the mother ship is too far away for you, now you can purchase them out of the case at your local Whole Foods. Delivered fresh daily. Ok.. back to the yumminess of Dolce.... Beyond the rolls there are a plethora of made-by-hand delights for everyone's taste buds that vary through the seasons and special occasions; delightful pumpkin concoctions, cakes (including special occasions and weddings; by order, not on display), molasses cookies, sweet potato scones, tarts, cookies of all kinds, bars, mini cupcakes, whoopie pies.. the list goes on. It's so difficult to step through the door and get just one thing. I usually have to leave with at least two items and one is gone before leaving the parking lot. Speaking of the door and parking lot, Dolce recently moved to the "back" area of the same shopping area they first came to reside in. They are no longer next to Starbucks. Why? Expansion because they are the best bakery in KC, of course. The new location is quite spectacular too, I must say. Whoever designed the new space has great décor taste. It's simple, feels like home, everything seems to fit like it's meant to be there. (see pictures that I've posted in the past) The staff... wow! They are always so incredibly sweet (pun intended). As much as I love this business, I avoid them because my hips don't need to expand BUT every time I visit, I'm greeted with a warm smile and my goodies are packaged in a fantastic little (or big) box adorned with their logo stickers. If there is one negative comment to give to them it would be here. I really don't like driving with one finger while I try to pry through the sticker that seals the box. Yeah, I know.. take it home and enjoy or eat at the lovely tables they provide in-house. I really do try to get it all they way home but sometimes that just doesn't happen. So, to keep the other people on the streets safe, please stop sealing your boxes so tight. LOL I love their "cash register". It's an iPad. I don't know how the whole setup works but everyone knows how to use it and it's quick, efficient and fits right in with their store. Kudos for being tech savvy bakers. And last but not least... if you love this bakery as much as I do, "like" them on another famous online location. On top of baking great treats, this "family" does some pretty cool things in and around the community. 1000 thumbs up for being in your community and giving back!
